FBA fee impact estimator: what the 2026 changes cost you

LIVELE's FBA fee impact estimator sizes two 2026 changes to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fees for brands selling on Amazon.com. The first is the temporary 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on US FBA fulfillment fees since April 17, 2026. The second is the FBA fee update effective January 15, 2026, which Amazon put at $0.08 per unit on average. Enter monthly units and your average fulfillment fee to see the monthly and annual cost.

Assumptions

  • The surcharge is 3.5% of the fulfillment fee, not of the selling price. Amazon applies it to US FBA fulfillment fees from April 17, 2026 and to Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Buy with Prime from May 2, 2026.
  • Amazon calls the surcharge temporary. The annual figure assumes it stays in place for 12 months; if Amazon ends it, the real annual cost is lower.
  • $0.08 per unit is Amazon’s stated average for the 2026 FBA fee update effective January 15, 2026. Your own change depends on the sizes and weights of your products, so your own 2025 fee gives a better answer.
  • Holiday peak fulfillment fees apply from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, and Amazon applies the 3.5% surcharge on top of them. If your fee average comes from peak months, the result includes the peak fee.
  • Referral fees, storage fees, the low-inventory-level fee, returns processing fees and inbound placement fees are not included.

What changed in FBA fees in 2026

Fuel and logistics surcharge. Since April 17, 2026, Amazon has added a temporary 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge to US FBA fulfillment fees, about $0.17 per unit on average. It applies to Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Buy with Prime from May 2, 2026. The surcharge is 3.5% of the fulfillment fee, not of your selling price (Amazon Seller Forums announcement, April 2026).

2026 fee update. Amazon's 2026 US fee update took effect January 15, 2026 and raised FBA fees by an average of $0.08 per unit sold. Amazon announced it on October 15, 2025 (Amazon, October 2025).

Both facts were last verified on October 7, 2026.

How to use the estimator

  1. Step 1

    Pull 3 months of data

From your Seller Central Payments reports, take total FBA units and total FBA fulfillment fees for the last 3 full months. Divide each by 3.

  2. Step 2

Work out your average fee per unit

Divide total fulfillment fees by total units. If the total already includes the surcharge, divide the result by 1.035 to get the fee before it.

  3. Step 3

Add last year's fee if you have it

With your 2025 average fee per unit, the estimator uses your own change instead of Amazon's $0.08 average, which reflects the sizes and weights in your own catalog.

  4. Step 4

Read the monthly and annual lines

Each line shows the formula behind it. Add your average profit per unit to see the surcharge as a share of what you keep.

Formulas and assumptions

Every formula and assumption behind the result is shown inside the estimator above, under “How it’s calculated” (with a worked example) and “Assumptions”.

What the estimator leaves out

Referral fees, monthly and aged-inventory storage, the low-inventory-level fee, the returns processing fee and inbound placement fees are not in the estimate. Their rules depend on your inventory levels, category and shipping choices, and the current figures sit on Seller Central help pages we have not verified for this tool. We would rather show two lines we can source than seven we cannot.

Questions about FBA fees in 2026

Is the fuel and logistics surcharge 3.5% of my selling price?

No. It is 3.5% of the FBA fulfillment fee. Amazon put the average at about $0.17 per unit. A unit with a higher fulfillment fee pays a higher surcharge, whatever its price.

Does the surcharge apply to Multi-Channel Fulfillment?

Yes. Amazon applies it to Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Buy with Prime orders from May 2, 2026. On FBA fulfillment fees it started April 17, 2026.

Does the surcharge apply to holiday peak fees?

Yes. Amazon's holiday peak fulfillment fees run from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, and Amazon has said the 3.5% surcharge applies on top of them. Amazon put the average peak fee at $0.32 per unit.

Why is my 2026 fee change different from $0.08 per unit?

$0.08 is Amazon's average across sellers. Fulfillment fees vary with a product's size and weight, so a catalog of large or heavy items can see a different change. Enter your 2025 fee per unit to use your own number.

Will the surcharge end?

Amazon describes it as temporary and says it will keep evaluating it. As of October 7, 2026 Amazon has not announced an end date. If it sets one, we update the estimator and log it in the Amazon policy tracker.

Can I reduce the surcharge?

The surcharge follows the fulfillment fee, so anything that lowers the fee lowers the surcharge. A common first check is that the dimensions and weight Amazon has on file for your top ASINs match the packed product. We review that as part of Full Account Management and The Missing Piece diagnostic.
